SUMMER SCHOOL –
Writing as Artistic Practice
at Halle für Kunst Lüneburg, 2025
For the first time, Texte zum Nachdenken organised a week-long Summer School on the topic of Writing as Artistic Practice in collaboration with Halle für Kunst Lüneburg. Ten international participants were selected from over 150 applications, all of whom explicitly involve writing and working with text in their artistic practice.
The week was marked by joint writing exercises, stimulating discussions and in-depth engagement with the participants' individual projects. In an open setting, insights into the diverse work processes were provided, texts were read and discussed, ideas were shared – in addition we cooked together!
The week concluded with a public Open House, where participants wrote and read live via two projections. The event format was developed collectively over the course of the week and provided space for exchange, resonance and reflection with visitors.
The Summer School was intended as an invitation to understand writing not only as a tool, but as an independent artistic practice – collective and individual, process-oriented and experimental.
As an output of the Summer School, an expanded collective writing process has now unfolded, which we will present during our next event at the Kemmler Foundation Berlin on 22 November 2025.
